Stephen is a serial entrepreneur with a proven capacity to secure financing, define and execute strategy, build successful teams, lead people, and confidently communicate with stakeholders and shareholders. He is a leader in the Canadian Technology Triangle community with a network of relationships with government, universities and community organizations. He was the founder of one of Canada's most successful technology startups, PixStream, which was acquired by Cisco.
Stephen is considered a visionary in the technology spaces of telecommunications, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and intelligent transportation. He is an experienced venture capitalist and private funder having raised $140M for personally founded companies, returning $575M to investors. His recent business ventures have included financial asset trading systems, advanced manufacturing, healthcare analytics and computer-aided patient diagnostics, and document analytics. Before founding PixStream, Stephen worked on controls and display suite applications for the United States Air Force Advanced Tactical Fighter and United States Army Apache and LHX helicopters with Litton Systems, McDonnell Douglas, and Bell Labs.
Krista has a keen eye for development of strategic partnerships bolstered by her extensive experience in a wide range of real property disciplines including electronic building data collection and management, property acquisitions, property appraisal and valuation, and insuring property valuations. She has been an international speaker on BIM, property assessment and Automated Valuation Modelling.
Krista's decades of experience include work in government and with a large insurer where she led the introduction of disruptive technologies aimed at streamlining business processes and maximizing the value and accuracy of data. She is also the Vice President Operations at Planit. Upon joining Planit in 2009, Krista introduced systems and structure to support rapid growth, while at the same time, formalizing a fiercely innovative and inventive company culture. Krista has managed the evolution of Planit from nine employees in Ontario to almost 50 in three countries.
Krista is adaptable, builds strong teams and is passionate about novel, enabling technologies. She is looking forward to rallying the AECOO and real-property communities around builtstream.
Fiona is a translator, a strategist, and a branding guru. With over 20 years of marketing and advertising experience, she dives deep into technology projects and emerges with strategies to connect with stakeholders and create brand value. Fiona has developed marketing strategies for everything from semiconductors to car rental, and from aviation to organic food products. She’s got a quick wit, a drive to understand and slings ink with the best of them. Fiona’s role at builtstream is to develop its brand and communications strategies and materials.
Mike is a professional engineer with a penchant for innovation. He brings over 30 years of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and building technology experience to builtstream. Mike founded Planit Measuring, and created the award winning MeasuringBoard system that produces real-time CAD and BIM for the built world. Under Mike’s leadership, Planit has become a trusted supplier and partner for some of the largest and most respected companies including Autodesk, HOK, Department of National Defense (DND) Canada, IBI, Gensler, GSA, CBRE, Johnson Controls and more. With builtstream, Mike provides vital connectivity between real-world and virtual modelling and the application of digital twins to infrastructure and smart cities.
